Gadsden /Etowah County Emergency Management Agency is the local representative of Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Alabama Emergency Management Agency (AEMA). Our purpose is to develop, coordinate, and implement a comprehensive and effective emergency management program for Etowah County. Plans are made to assist local officials manage any natural or man-made disaster by using an integrated system approach that coordinates all available resources and provides for mitigation, planning preparedness, and response and recovery activities to save lives and minimize property damage.

The Chemical Stockpile Emergency Planning Program (CSEPP) is but one area we plan for. This program supports the destruction of chemical weapons stored at Anniston Army Depot and other locations. Our public education program, alert and warning systems, management of evacuations or sheltering in place, re-entry and recovery are important parts of CSEPP. This site will assist you in preparing for actions to insure your safety if there is an accident at Anniston Army Depot.
