Evacuation Routes

Be assured the Calhoun County local Emergency Management Agency (EMA), in partnership with the Alabama EMA, the United States Army, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), are ready to educate and inform you. Ready to alert you and respond 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. But you need to do your part. Know your zones for home, work, school, and church. Be prepared to follow protective action instructions from the Calhoun County Emergency Operations Center. If a chemical accident occurs, your local EMA will give you instructions based on the zone you are in. You may be asked to shelter in place, evacuate, simply avoid travel, or you may be given other important instructions. Monitor your Emergency Alert Stations for further emergency instructions.

How to use this map

  • On the map of Calhoun County, find your locations for work, home and school. Make note of the ZONE in which you are located. (The ZONES are defined by areas listed below, and are given a code. For example: if you live in the city of Oxford, your ZONE is B-2. )
  • Specific boundary details for each ZONE are listed below, to help determine your exact location.
  • If an evacuation is ordered for your ZONE, the directions below indicate the best evacuation route for each ZONE.
  Pink Zones - Immediate Response Zone: (A-1, A-1A, A-2, B-1, B-2, C-1, C-1A, and D-1) The Protective Action Equipment now available for citizens in the Pink Zones consists of Protective Hoods, a Portable Room Air Cleaner and a Shelter-in-Place Kit.
 
  IRZ - Immediate Response Zone: (A-3, A-4, B-3, C-2 and D-2) The Protective Action Equipment now available for citizens in the IRZ consists of a Shelter-in-Place Kit and a Portable Room Air Cleaner.
 
  PAZ - Protective Action Zone: (A-5, A-6, A-7, A-8., A-9, A-10, B-4, B-5, C-3, D-3, D-4 and M-3) The Protective Action Equipment now available for citizens in the PAZ consists of a Shelter-in-Place Kit.
